The lifespan of brake pads depends on a lot of factors, but manufacturers guidelines state that they should last for around 25,000 to 70,000 miles. The number of miles comes down to the way you drive, this is the biggest factor in the longevity of your brake pads.
Ideally, every 6 months as the legal limit is 1.5mm, regular checks are important to keep you safe on the roads and ensure your brake pads remain responsive.
Most modern cars are fitted with sensors that will notify you when your brake pads need changing. If you have an older car without these sensors, you can also tell by screeching sounds, scraping sounds, pulling or vibrations.
