EV Charging Cables

Due to the eventual planned phasing out of petrol and diesel vehicles within the UK and rest of the world, the switch to electric vehicles or EV has never been more important. In the UK alone, EV sales have skyrocketed in recent years. 18.5% of cars registered in 2021 were electric and in January, 14,433 BEVs were sold which makes up 12.5% of new registrations. And by 2030 there will be a ban on new petrol and diesel vehicle sales. Because of this, the need for a high-quality EV charging cables has never been more apparent.

Our EV charging cable range includes the Type 2 to Type 2 EV charging Cable, this is suitable for all type 2 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, it has a lifespan of 10,000 charging cycles. Furthermore, it is rated at IP55 for excellent water and dust resistance which is ideal for when you need to charge your vehicles in poor weather conditions. We also now offer a selection of different charging options, with faster three-phase cables available, as well as the affordable Delta Type 1 - Type 2. This has slightly slower charge than the type 2, however it also comes with a 12-month guarantee and has an Ingress Protection Rating of IP54 which means that the charger will protect against dust and other particles.

What cable is best for EV charging?

It would depend on the compatibility of your vehicle, but Type 2 cables are suitable for most charging points in the UK and they also offer faster charging.

Are all EV cables the same?

Unfortunately, EV cables are not universal. The type of cable depends on the compatibility with your EV. Most European EV's often require a Type 2 cable, Some Asian and most American EV's require a Type 1 cable.

Type 2 cables are becoming more common with more Asian and American manufacturers opting to align with the European standard.

What are Type 1 and Type 2 EV charging cables?

  • Type 1 cables are common for American EV's and some Asian EV's. These cables use a single-phase plug that can charge up to a speed of 7.4kW.
  • Type 2 cables are standard for European and Asian vehicles from 2018 onwards. These cables use a triple-phase plug and can charge up to a speed of 43kW.
